About Me
My name is Mirhada Kuljancic and I am a senior at Sport and Medical Sciences Academy. I'm an honors student, and will be the second in my family to graduate from high school and college. I was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but because of the circumstances there after the war, I came to America with my family in order to live a better life. Included was my younger cousin Sejla, who has passed in October of 2015 because of a rare disease. On August 23, 2015, while most kids were getting ready for school the next day, Sejla was being transported in an ambulance from her apartment in Hartford to Boston Children’s Hospital where she was diagnosed and being treated with pulmonary hypertension for a year already. She had battled with the disease, and passed when she got pneumonia on top of it. For my capstone, I taught kids in Naylor School who are around Sejla's age about something that affected someone like them, and how things can change in a blink of an eye. |
